Minnus owner's Product Review, October 2011:

In my opinion, it is the perfect scooter. Less torque then the N-19. I noticed you weighted it really well to pull a bit to the right to counter the rotational velocity to the left. Very nice. For a small scooter, there is minimal torque.

When I scooter solo back to the Hinkle, I have confidence that I have plenty of battery to get back. The additional battery adds a bit of stability to the scooter when compared with the Minnus 1.0. I like that. If I only did boat diving, I would have gone with the Minnus 1.0. I like the way it handles in the cave. Very stable, yet turns on a dime. When I scooter around corners, the scooter handles extremely well. So I have both stability and performance.

I like the fact that the internals (both motor and battery pack are redundantly sealed) are protected from an accidental flood, unlike the Magnus. For boat diving in the ocean, I view this feature as very important.

Additionally, I really like the three speeds. I don't like to have to change the prop like I did with my N-19; I prefer to simply change to one of three speeds with the trigger. And the top speed isn't as severe as with the Magnus. This is to say, top speed on the Minnus is more comfortable and doable then with the Magnus.

Not having to deal with a degradation in battery power is also very nice. I did 40 scooter dives last year on my N-19, and was a bit surprised at the reduced capacity of the battery because of the use. I went from about 55minutes to 42 minutes of power. With the battery in the Minnus, I'm hoping to get a longer battery life. I realize there is a risk of fire with this battery technology, but I think the benefits greatly outweigh the costs.

Finally, the light weight of the scooter is really great handling out of the water. You just can't beat a 38 lb scooter on land. When driving, I simply strap it into the front seat with a seat belt. No back issues, no pulled muscles, no need for help with a buddy.

Doug Chappell tried my scooter when diving with me one time at Ginnie and was so impressed, he ordered a Minnus 1.5 as well.

For me, this is the perfect scooter. Thank you for the design.
